Yarmuth Defeats Northup

By:

U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth has won a second term in Congress, defeating Republican Anne Northup in her effort to recapture Louisville's Third District seat she lost to Yarmuth in 2006.

It's the third straight loss for Northup, 60, who last year made an unsuccessful bid for Kentucky governor in the Republican primary.

Yarmuth, 61, has said he looks forward to returning to Congress to focus on the economy, jobs, and moving forward on local projects such as transportation and a new veterans' hospital in Louisville.
