Reported by Joseph Gerth and James R. Carroll
During his address to the Kentucky delegation, U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth of Louisville spent most of his time urging his listeners to get behind Obama because, he said, the country can't stand another four years of President Bush's policies.
That's a pretty common rallying cry in Denver. In the eyes of these Democrats, Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, stands for a continuation of Bush's policies.
But Yarmuth did give Bush some credit.
He said Bush is responsible for saving the Democratic Party after several years of floundering because, he said, "it had lost its way."
"Thank God for George Bush and the neo-cons," he said. "They have shown us the difference between the Republican and Democratic philosophies."
